5 Proven Tips to Help You Overcome Your Depression So You Can Live a Happier Life.
Are you alone?
Did you know that loneliness is a normal part of our
everyday lives?
Let's face it, we've all been there.
We become sad when we fail our exams, when someone we
love rejects us, or when someone very close to us passes away.
That's just part of life.
But depression can be more devastating than loneliness
alone. This can have lifelong consequences that can ruin your self-esteem,
health, and well-being in the process.
Well today is your lucky day because I am going to share
with you some great tips to help you conquer the 'depressed mood' so that you
can get the most enjoyment out of your daily activities.
So, with that being said, let's move on to tip 1.
Tip 1. Do you get enough light and sunlight?
Did you know that lack of exposure to sunlight is
responsible for the secretion of a hormone called melatonin, which can trigger
depressed mood and/or lethargic state?
Melatonin is produced only in darkness. What it does is
it lowers body temperature and makes you feel drowsy.
So, if you are always locked in your room (with the
curtains closed), it will be difficult to stop yourself from staying in bed.
This is why many people suffer from depression more often
in winter than in other seasons.
That's just because the nights are long.
If you aren't able to get some sunlight, you can always
illuminate your room with a bright light to help ward off darkness.
Or...
You can have lunch outside the office for a change and
take frequent walks in the afternoon instead of driving your car short
distances.
The options are endless. It's really up to you.
Tip 2. Stay engaged and inspired.
You'll be more likely to overcome any feelings of
depression if you keep your mind busy with the activities you enjoy most.
Do things you love.
If you are a little short of cash, you can engage in
simple things like taking a leisurely walk in the park, playing sports, reading
books, or engage in any activity for which you have passion and would love to
do. .
Also set a goal.
No matter how difficult or discouraging life may be,
persevere and have an unwavering belief that you are capable of doing anything
you set out to do.
With this type of positive attitude, you will gain a
cheerful disposition to ward off sadness.
Tip 3. take a break. sit back and relax.
Indeed.
Listen to some soothing music that you like. Soak in a
nice warm bath. Just take a break from your stressful workload and spend the
day doing what you love.
In other words, have fun. Life is too short anyway.
Tip 4. Keep a sound eating routine and remain fit.
Avoid foods with too much sugar, caffeine or alcohol.
Sugar and caffeine can give you energy for a while; But
they will bring anxiety, stress and internal problems later.
Alcohol, on the other hand, is a depressant. Many people
drink alcohol just to "forget about their problems."
All they are doing is exacerbating their situations in
the process.
Also, did you know that exercising regularly is an
important depression reliever?
Why are you asking?
Simply because it allows your body to produce more
endorphins than usual.
Endorphins are sometimes called "happy
chemicals" because of their stress-reducing and happiness-inducing
properties.
Tip 5. Get a social life outside of work.
no man is an island. Your inner circle of friends is
there to give you moral support.
Spending time with them and engaging in meaningful
activities can give you a very fulfilling feeling.
And we all know now... nothing feels better than group
support.
And... never underestimate the power of touch.
What I mean to say is... doesn't it feel great?
